We practice basic techniques and forms from the Shindo Muso Ryu Jodo. Training is conducted primarily in kata training, which in various forms of pre-determined pattern of movement with attacks and parry, framed in a strict etiquette.
The forms, kata, are arranged in different series, which also acts as a sort of level indication of the degree of progress.
In addition, there is another series of jo kata, which we also train. Seitei Kata was compiled in the late 1960s of ZKR, the Japanese Kendofederation. The forms are basically from Shindo Muso Ryu, sometimes slightly modified.
In connection to Shindo Muso Ryu there are other schools of traditional martial art, which we also train. Uchida ryu Tanjojutsu for the short staff, the sword school Kasumi Shinto Ryu Kenjutsu, Isshin Ryu Kusarigama jutsu for chain and sickle and Ittatsu Ryu Jutte jutsu for sword breaker. Sometimes we train also Iaido, the art of sword drawing.
